Mission Statement: Our knowledgeable & experienced clinicians promote a safer society by providing therapeutic services to people who have committed a sexual offense. We help our clients to have a safer, more fulfilled & well-rounded lifestyle.
Our Vision: BPS aims to be the provider of choice for Criminal Justice agencies, attorneys and other stakeholders across West & Mid-Michigan.
BPS staff are considered leaders in the field of sex offense treatment. We emphasize a collaborative approach with our clients, supervising agents and other important people in the lives of our clients.


Staff

Dave Berghuis practices with a Masters as a Licensed Limited Psychologist which he received from Western Michigan University. Prior to receiving his master’s degree, Dave obtained his bachelors at Calvin College in Psychology. Currently Dave is the founder and director of Berghuis Psychological Services and provides various assessments and treatments at this organization. Dave also provides training related to sex-offender treatment and is currently a board member on the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abuse of Michigan (MI-ATSA). Dave is also the author of ten books in Popular Practice Planner Series (Wiley).

Kris Pence is a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a Master of Arts in Counselor Education - Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. He works with individuals addressing problematic sexual concerns and behaviors in community-based treatment. Kris brings a strengths-focused approach to therapy with clients and collaborates with them to enhance their personal skill and accountability while managing risk.

Jennifer Brink graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.) focused in Counseling Education and Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. Jennifer has worked for 5 years as a psychiatric technician and patient care provider at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. She later worked as a case manager at Forest View Psychiatric Hospital performing psychosocial assessments, running inpatient treatment groups, and engaging in mental health crisis management and aftercare treatment planning.
